Survey Risk Assessment Services

Asbestos and hazardous materials surveys and risk assessments detail the location, condition and quantity of asbestos and other hazardous materials and assess any risk arising from the identified materials. The reports provided meet the requirements of the Victorian Government Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2007.

Identifibre carries out assessments that meet the requirements of both Division 5 and Division 6 of the regulations. Division 5 assessments are general workplace risk assessments and Division 6 assessments are a requirement where refurbishment or demolition works are planned. Hazardous materials assessments are usually performed in conjunction with Division 6 assessments and generally include other materials such as synthetic mineral fibre, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) and lead based paints.

The survey involves the physical inspection of the site, collection of material samples and consideration of other relevant information. A comprehensive report is provided which provides the following information:

  • Results of laboratory analysis of material samples collected.
  • An asbestos and or hazardous materials register.
  • A risk assessment of the potential for exposure of personnel to airborne asbestos or other hazards.
  • Recommendations and priorities for control of hazards.
  • Recommendations for future assessment activities.

These reports provide the information for development of an asbestos or hazardous materials management plan to ensure effective control of risk. The principal elements of a management plan include:

  • Risk control strategies.
  • An ongoing inspection programme.
  • Labeling of asbestos containing materials for immediate identification.

Identifibre also offers a labeling service whereby we supply and install labels (see examples pictured)
